IT'S HERE! THE OFFICIAL BLOG FOR SOULMUSIC.COM!

I had been thinking of creating a blog so that all the folks who come to www.soulmusic.com could write about topics of interest and give me a chance to comment on soul music-related matters on a regular basis. I was SO inspired by seeing the legendary BETTYE LAVETTE at The Echo Cafe in Los Angeles last night that I knew it was time! More on Bettye in a while but for now. welcome to all soul music lovers the world over! Here's your opportunity to express yourself!!!

I would love to see on a regular basis some of your interviews from the 70's and 80's from Blues and Soul. Just to see how you fared in your predictions of that artist. Please give it a thought...

Without a doubt, I have seen most of the great artists of soul music. The great female stage performers/singers in no particular order have been: Bettye LaVette, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner (with Ike), Loleatta Holloway, Peggy Scott-Adams, Etta James, Ann Peebles, Peggi Blu, Mavis Staples. Among the men I've seen: Wilson Pickett, Edwin Starr, J. Blackfoot, Al Green, Jerry Butler, James Brown, David Ruffin, Ray Charles. Groups: Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, The Marvelettes, Sweet Inspirations, The Mirettes, Temptations, Four Tops, Soul Children.

Dave Alan...funny you should say that..we're trying to figure out a subscription-based archive of some of those interviews transposed into Q&A sessions (to avoid copyright restrictions). Stay tuned.

and Oliver, you named some great folks. Never seen Peggy Scott-Adams, J. Blackfoot, the late David Ruffin, The Mirettes or The Soul Children. How were each of them? Curious.

Hi David N han, The British Ambassador Of Soul !

Nice post!

I really love that music means so much to so many. It brings us all together!

Right now, I'm rockin' out to the "nuclear-meltdown, piano-mania, happy blues" piano music at http://www.claycotton.com. It smokes so righteously that I can't stop smiling :)

I wonder if you can feel it as much as I do...

Thanks,

- Sandy
